Getting acceptable BTS shots is easy, point the camera at the crew and shoot. But getting great bts shots? That’s a skillset.
On set, the priority is the production. A skilled BTS photographer knows how to hug the wall, until it’s time for a photo. Whether it’s catching a quiet candid while the crew rigs lights, or grabbing a quick posed shot between takes, timing is everything. You’re constantly reading the room: Who’s available? What’s happening? Will this moment tell the story of the day?
Good BTS photography is fast, quiet, and above all, NEVER stops production.
I’ve worked on my share of both smooth and chaotic sets—and I’ve learned how to capture them without ever becoming the reason they stop.
