I grew up in the theater. I acted in a ton of horrible community theater productions, and my parents took me and my sister to plays and musicals all the time. Those experiences proved to be fairly useful, especially since theater seems to be something I’m shooting all the time now.

Theater photography tends to consist of two things. Shooting coverage photos of the play itself, and setting up a promotional photoshoot, for the play’s instagram, or official poster.

When I was a kid, I wasn’t the best on stage. It’s a good thing then that I switched to theater photography, as the results have been much better.

Yes — Rainer shoots theater, dance, cabarets, operas, and all types of performances primarily in NYC, as well as the tri-state area.

Theater photography covers promotional photos/videos of the run itself. Rainer does however also offer specialized promotional character shoots for productions.

Both — Rainer photographs live coverage during actual performances, but if possible, final dress rehearsals are the preferred day of coverage.

Everything from Off-Off-Broadway plays and fringe festival shows to opera, musical theater, and dance/burlesque performances.
