There’s nothing more captivating, or challenging to photograph than a person’s face. No matter what gig I’m on, I almost always walk away with at least one headshot or portrait. It’s the shot I shoot for myself, and the client.
Portrait and headshot photography is all about timing. A blink, a stray strand of hair, the light in someone’s eyes—even a piece of falafel on a tooth can ruin the headshot you want to capture. It’s a waiting game. But when everything lines up; expression, lighting, energy, emotion, it’s palpable. Life around your subject just works and clicks for one second.
And that’s when you take the shot.
